We are a specialist cheddar cheese company based in the World Heritage site of Blaenafon, South Wales. All our cheeses are handmade at our shop in Broad Street Blaenafon by our family and are free from any artificial preservatives or colourings or dried ingredients. They are all suitable for VEGETARIANS and are hand dipped in coloured wax to give a long natural shelf life as long as they are stored correctly between 0 to +5 oC. We are open to the public and you can drop in and see us during our opening hours Mon to Sat 10-4pm. We are open on Saturdays from the Easter Bank Holiday. At present we produce13 very distinctive cheddars and a hard goat's cheese. Also in the product range are four hamper choices and six Cheesy Tipple choices of a cheddar and bottle of real ale or cider.
Many of our cheeses are flavoured with local alcohols which act as our natural preservatives and include; Penderyn Welsh whisky, Welsh white wine, Reverend James ale and other local ingredients. The four heritage cheddars have scenes of Blaenafon's industrial heritage on the labels. Our Pwll Mawr cheddar is actually matured 300ft below ground at the bottom of the mine shaft at Big Pit mining museum, which is part of the Welsh National Museums and is free entry, and is open 7 days a week. Our cheeses can be bought from the Big Pit gift shop Our cheddars and hampers would make an ideal gift. You can find our cheeses on the Products on the page where they can be purchased online.
